Name Emotions

Emotions are sensations in the body and feelings are the meaning we assign to the sensations. Many children do not have words to describe the sensations they experience (stomach hurts, tightness, racing thoughts). You can help children learn feeling words by giving them a chance to label their emotions as a regular part of their day. Here are two different examples of how to name emotions as part of the daily routine:
