Redirect

Redirecting involves shifting the child's attention toward a new item or activity. This shift can often help a child stop unwanted behavior and refocus their attention on something else. To effectively redirect in the moment, you will need to teach children ways to refocus before they become upset. Activities like fluttering like a butterfly and erupting like a volcano can be taught to the whole group and then offered as choices when a child needs help to regain composure. “Do you want to do a butterfly or volcano?”
