Approach Calmly

It is important to stay calm when a child loses control of their behavior because children often model their behavior after the adults around them. By staying calm, you can show the child that it is possible to stay in control even when things are difficult. You are also better able to think rationally and respond in a way that is appropriate and effective for the situation. Try breathing, mindfulness, and positive self-talk to help you approach calmly.

  • Use Positive Self-Talk
  • Take a Deep Breath and Focus on the Moment
